Week One!!

I can't believe Tyler is one week old today. I've been saying for the past few days,"I need to update my blog." I've been quite occupied or just too tired to get out the computer. So, today is the day. I will catch you up on our week.
Thursday-This was the big day! Tyler arrived at 12:20PM, 9lb 4oz, and 191/2 inches long. Now, the length is debatable. We all thought he seemed longer than 191/4 so Rusty did his own measurement and got 21 1/2 inches. Then, at our first Dr. apt, they measured him at 20 1/2 inches. The c-section was a breeze and I was so calm and relaxed. Rusty actually watched the surgery...yuck. However, I am a bit jealous because he was able to see Tyler come out. He arrived perfectly healthy and ready for the world. We had lots of family and friends come to visit. The day could not have been more perfect!

Friday- We spent Friday in the hospital. Our stay was fine, but very busy. It seemed there was constantly papers to fill out, nurses coming in, photo people, ear test lady. Lots to do in such a short about of time.

Saturday-We spent most of Saturday in the hospital, and came home Saturday night about 6:0o. It was a great feeling to put Tyler in the car are drive away.

Then, we got to experience our first night at home, just the three of us. Wow, it was quite hard. Tyler was a bit gassy, which equals fussy. In our case for about 2 hours. I was in tears, of course and Rusty was a great Daddy. The good new is we survived.
Sunday-My mom came over for the day to help out. She did some laundry and watched Tyler while Rusty and I took a nap. Then we were alone for the night. We slept about 3 hours this night...but we survived.

Monday- After a night of no sleep we had to take Tyler to his first Dr. appointment at 8AM. I went with as list of questions and was able to get lots of answers. The good news of the day, Tyler looks and sounds great. There was more good news. Mimi(Rusty's mom) came to stay until Thursday. We had never been more excited to see her. She was such as big help. She cooked dinner, helped change diapers, and stayed up with Tyler through the night.
Tuesday-This was the day for Tyler's first sponge bath.

Wednesday- A pretty uneventful day. But keep in mind Mimi is still here so, life seems great.

Thursday- Things seem to be getting easier by the day. Tyler is getting better about sleeping other places besides someones arms. Which has been the case the last few days. He is quite the smuggler and loves to be snuggled up close. This was also a sad day because, Mimi left. Rusty and I are back on our own.
We also had an episode with Gracie tonight. She had just gone out to potty, when she came in she started seizing and she couldn't stand up. Luckily my mom and sister were here so Rusty and I jumped in the car and headed to the emergency vet. On the way the gave her honey, thinking it would boost her sugar. On the way to the emergency vet I was able to get a hold of our regular vet. While I was on the phone with him Gracie stopped shaking and was able to stand up and walk. The Dr. said, "She could be going through a stressful situation and that caused the sugar level to drop." I then explained that I had just had a baby and our lives were a bit different. So, he feels sure this is the issue. We are giving her honey and nutrical to keep her sugar levels up. We will keep an eye on her and hope that things will get better.
The last week has been overwhelming, and hard. I've had lots of tears too. Luckily I have a fabulous husband and great friends and family to help us through it. And, we have a precious baby boy to show for it and I wouldn't trade it for the world!!! I love being a Mommy and I think God for Tyler and all of our blessing every day!!

Here we go!!

It's about that time to head to the hospital, and I am so ready. Along with my 8 million prayers, I asked God to give me a restful nights sleep. Of course, He gave me what I asked for. Rusty and I both slept very well last night, and feel very rested this morning. I'm very relaxed this morning and I hope it stays that way. I've had no tears either, however I have fought them off at least three times. If all goes well Tyler will be here in about three hours!! Woooo Hooooo!!!

I can't believe the day is finally here. I can't wait to see him for the first time!! Now, I'm praying for a safe delivery, and a happy healthy baby boy!!

Eventful Day...

Today was a bit crazy. I went to work this morning(for the last day) at about 7:15. I started feeling a little dizzy and my vision was a bit spotty. I went and had our nurse check my blood pressure and sure enough it was a little high. I checked for the next three hours and it continued to rise. It eventually got up to 132/95. For me this is pretty high, I'm typically 110ish/70ish. I had called the Dr and they finally got back to me around noon. She told me to go home, lay on my left side, and drink lots of water. So, that's what I did. I went in for my Dr appointment this afternoon and my blood pressure was back down to 118/70. Yeah!! She said it's probably just anxiety. I've had a lot on my brain lately, I'm sure you can imagine.

Well, while I was at the Dr. we decided to take a different route with my delivery. Because of Tyler's size we decided to do a c-section Thursday morning at 11:30. We went over every possibility of delivering a big baby, good and bad. I think this is the safest way to go. All along I've been set on a vaginal birth. About a month or so ago I came to the realization that what I wanted isn't what is most important. What's most important is that Tyler is here...safe and healthy. Then, after finding out last week that he was already 8lb 12oz I have been really worried about a vaginal delivery. My worst fear being that he would get stuck and that could lead to many more complications. I've thought about it all week, and talked to Rusty about it too. I'm very content with a c-section. I'm a very planned, structured, and organized person so a c-section actually suits me well. Because I'm delivering at 38 weeks we still have to do the amnio in the morning to check for lung development. Dr. Popov said those results should be back by tomorrow afternoon and she would call and let me know.

So, Thursday is the day. I'm so very excited and I can't wait to meet Tyler!!!

37 Week Belly..

Last Thursday I was 37 weeks and here is my belly to prove it.....

This is officially my LAST belly picture!! At 38 weeks, Tyler will be in my arms and not in my belly!! Although I will miss the kicks and flips, I would much rather be able to see them in person!! I go to the Dr. again tomorrow afternoon and then Wednesday is the big day.

2 more days to go!!!!

Shower and Snow!!!

Last Thursday my two classes threw me a surprise baby shower. Because 3rd graders are not very good at keeping secrets, I did know about the shower. However, It was still shocking to walk into a room with 44 kids and parents. It was a great treat and once again Tyler got lots of good stuff!

The last two days we have been off because of all the snow. It's been nice to do some last minute things at the house and relax a little. Gracie has not been wanting to go potty outside, of course. But, when she heard the dogs next door barking she finally went out. She was trying to jump on the brick around the flower bed and couldn't. She was stuck because the snow was too deep.

Scooter on the other hand, loves it!

If you notice in the video Grace does run out at one point. Then, she very quickly turns around and heads right back inside.....
Here is my 36 week picture. I will post my 37 week soon. I'm still feeling good. I'm having contractions but nothing painful, or consistent. My bags are packed just in case he decides to come before next Wednesday. I will meet with Dr. Popov again on Tuesday afternoon. And on another good note, Rusty's boss is letting him work from home all next week, so that is one less thing to worry about.

5 more days until the big arrival!!!!

He's Still Big....

This afternoon we went for another sono and check up. As it turns out, Tyler is still big...a whoppin 8 lbs and 12oz. Keep in mind I am only 36 weeks and 4 days. We couldn't get a good picture of his face so I don't have one to share. We did find out that he has some hair and you could see the fat rolls on the back of his neck. It was pretty darn cute.!! His tummy was measuring the size of a 40 week baby, his femur was 38 weeks, and his head size was off the charts...literally. Rusty says it's because he's already really smart(He gets that from Mommy!)!!

After the sonogram we met with Dr. Popov. Last week I was dilated to a 1 and 50% effaced. Last week we also decided because of his size to schedule an induction for Feb. 25th, one week early from the original due date. I am now dilated to a 3 and still 50% effaced. Since he is already 8lb 12oz., she gave us some more options of what we could do. We decided to bump up the induction date another week. So, we will induce next Wednesday, the 17th at 8PM. Because it is an elective induction(opposed to a medical) prior to 39 weeks they have to do an amniocentesis to check for lung development. I will go in Wednesday morning at 8AM to have it done. This is when they will draw out amniotic fluid from my sac to ensure proper lung development. The Dr. said their is no reason to believe that his lungs won't be developed but it's a safety precaution they have to take. Everything I have read says the same thing too. Katie and I were both born and 38 weeks and turned out just perfect!!! Tyler and I will be hooked up to monitors the whole time so they can see exactly what is going on. It makes me a little nervous to think they are sticking a needle in there, but the Dr assured me it would be fine. She said the only drawback she has ever seen at this stage in pregnancy(38 weeks) is that it could induce labor. Which for me is not a drawback since we will induce a few hours after the amnio anyways. The amnio may even get things started for us! I know it's not a big deal at all and there is no need to worry, but it's what I do.

This is the plan for now. I could always go into labor on my own between now and then, who knows. I go for another checkup next Tuesday, and then Wednesday is the big day!! Say your prayers for a safe delivery and a happy healthy baby boy!!

9 more days!!!

Apparently it's in the water, so drink up people...this is fun!!!

We have a sonogram and check up tomorrow at 3:00. I'm so anxious to see how big Tyler is and if my body has progressed anymore. We will let you know!!
