Thursday-This was the big day! Tyler arrived at 12:20PM, 9lb 4oz, and 191/2 inches long. Now, the length is debatable. We all thought he seemed longer than 191/4 so Rusty did his own measurement and got 21 1/2 inches. Then, at our first Dr. apt, they measured him at 20 1/2 inches. The c-section was a breeze and I was so calm and relaxed. Rusty actually watched the surgery...yuck. However, I am a bit jealous because he was able to see Tyler come out. He arrived perfectly healthy and ready for the world. We had lots of family and friends come to visit. The day could not have been more perfect!

Friday- We spent Friday in the hospital. Our stay was fine, but very busy. It seemed there was constantly papers to fill out, nurses coming in, photo people, ear test lady. Lots to do in such a short about of time.
Saturday-We spent most of Saturday in the hospital, and came home Saturday night about 6:0o. It was a great feeling to put Tyler in the car are drive away.
Then, we got to experience our first night at home, just the three of us. Wow, it was quite hard. Tyler was a bit gassy, which equals fussy. In our case for about 2 hours. I was in tears, of course and Rusty was a great Daddy. The good new is we survived.
Sunday-My mom came over for the day to help out. She did some laundry and watched Tyler while Rusty and I took a nap. Then we were alone for the night. We slept about 3 hours this night...but we survived.
Monday- After a night of no sleep we had to take Tyler to his first Dr. appointment at 8AM. I went with as list of questions and was able to get lots of answers. The good news of the day, Tyler looks and sounds great. There was more good news. Mimi(Rusty's mom) came to stay until Thursday. We had never been more excited to see her. She was such as big help. She cooked dinner, helped change diapers, and stayed up with Tyler through the night.
Wednesday- A pretty uneventful day. But keep in mind Mimi is still here so, life seems great.
Thursday- Things seem to be getting easier by the day. Tyler is getting better about sleeping other places besides someones arms. Which has been the case the last few days. He is quite the smuggler and loves to be snuggled up close. This was also a sad day because, Mimi left. Rusty and I are back on our own.
We also had an episode with Gracie tonight. She had just gone out to potty, when she came in she started seizing and she couldn't stand up. Luckily my mom and sister were here so Rusty and I jumped in the car and headed to the emergency vet. On the way the gave her honey, thinking it would boost her sugar. On the way to the emergency vet I was able to get a hold of our regular vet. While I was on the phone with him Gracie stopped shaking and was able to stand up and walk. The Dr. said, "She could be going through a stressful situation and that caused the sugar level to drop." I then explained that I had just had a baby and our lives were a bit different. So, he feels sure this is the issue. We are giving her honey and nutrical to keep her sugar levels up. We will keep an eye on her and hope that things will get better.
The last week has been overwhelming, and hard. I've had lots of tears too. Luckily I have a fabulous husband and great friends and family to help us through it. And, we have a precious baby boy to show for it and I wouldn't trade it for the world!!! I love being a Mommy and I think God for Tyler and all of our blessing every day!!

Congratulations Brittany! He is precious!

ReplyDeleteTyler is so handsome! Oh I remember those newborn days and the many tears I shed. It will get better though as you have already experienced. Sleep will come again. I will be praying for extra strength, peace and rest for you. Enjoy that precious baby boy!
